Rate limits
How limits answer, and the limits in place today.
How a limit answers
A request over a limit gets 429 rate_limited with a Retry-After header in seconds. Wait at least that long before you retry; the request was not processed.
Sending
Today each organization can send up to 300 messages a minute through POST /v1/messages, counted separately for live and test traffic, and one number can receive at most 30 live messages an hour. These are provisional defaults and may change.
Invalid keys
After 50 invalid API keys from one network (an IPv6 /64; 500 per /48) in 10 minutes, Bearer requests from that network get 429 before any key is checked, except with a key that authenticated recently.
Other limits
- Webhook redeliveries: 60 an hour per organization.
- Contact imports: one at a time and 20 a day per organization.
- The overview: 60 reads a minute per organization.
Slow reads
A list that takes too long to read answers 503 read_timeout with Retry-After. Retry later, or narrow the request.
